Bhadrachalam is located at a distance of 120 Kms from Khammam, is one of the most famous and sacred shrines in India, situated on the banks of picturesque river Godavari. Located 40 Kms from Bhadrachalam, Parnasala is picturesque spot. Legend has it that Lord Rama spent his 14 years of exile at Parnasala. It is here that h e is believed to have killed Mareecha, who came disguised as golden deer to lure Seeta. A sparkling stream, winding its way through dense forests presents a beautiful picnic spot.
The historic 700 years old, Lord Venkateswara Swami temple is situated in Annapureddipalli, which is at a distance of 75 Kms from Khammam. Built during the reign of Kakatiyas, it represents the epitome of south Indian culture and heritage and boasts of excellent sculptures inscribed on the walls and pillars.
Located in Jamalapuram, 85 Kms from Khammam town and from Vijayawada by road is a very old Venkateswara Swamy temple. Also called Telangana Chinna Tirupati, “Swayambhoo” and “Swayam Vyakta” this temple is believed to be over 1000 years old and visited by a large number of devotees especially every Saturday. The temple is considered to be very holy and it’s believed that pujas and darshan here lead to fulfillment of desires and wishes.
Kallur is located 50Kms from Khammam. The famous Lord Venu Gopala Swami Temple, built 400 years ago by Queen Rudramma Devi, is situated here. Nearby is a Lord Siva temple constructed by the Kakatiya ruler king Prathapa Rudra, with five lingas and a huge water tank.
Located 40 Kms from Khammam, Garla is the site of renowned Lord Venkateswara temple, which was built, in the 15th century by the Kakatiyas. The walls are adorned with beautiful sculptures, which represent the finest craftsmanship of that period.
Sri Ramagiri literally means a hillock dedicated to Lord Sri Rama. Sri Ramagiri was the place where Mathanga maharshi has established his ashram. While Sri Rama in search of Seetha. Mathanga maharshi performed a yagam. As such the idols of Sri Rama and Seetha were installed here. Later on it is being called as Rekhapalli. There are two hillocks by the side of the temple called as Bali and Sugriva. The foot and knee prints of Lord Sri Rama and footprints of Maya lady are seen on the rock in the river Godavari here. Hence this temple is closely associated with the epic Ramayana.
Sri Bhakta Ramadasu Smaraka Mandiram
It is known that the place of Sri Bhaktha Ramadasu Smaraka Mandiram situated at Nelakondapalli mandal was the birthplace of Sri Kanc herla Gopanna (Sri Bhaktha Ramdas) who was the then thahasildar and constructed Sri Seeta Ramachandra vari devasthanam at Bhadrachalam. Hence the villagers and idols of Lord Sri Rama, Seeta constructed a temple, sri Laxmana Swami along with Sri Bhakta Ramdas were installed and performing daily rituals.
